Shorts: Banana Republic
Shoes: Steve Madden
Ahh! Finally I found a jumpsuit that caught my eye and I bought it. I had to, it was less than $20. I was at Nordstrom as I usually am and as I was waiting in line to pay for my merchandise, I noticed this little black jumpsuit that was left on the side, I think someone must have changed their minds about it and when I saw it and the price, I had to have it.
I’ve worn this baby a few times already, just because its so easy to put on. It kind of works like the little black dress idea. You can never go wrong with black, it’s pants and top sown together, it’s perfection.
I decided to take it for a stroll in San Leandro and take pics. I used the vintage clutch my mother gave me, great shoes from Shoedazzle and jewelry from Windsor and Banana Republic. The bracelet here was designed by my mom and made in Peru, love it!
This picture was the final product, full, long, glamorous lashes. Exactly what I paid for.
I wanted to start out with showing you the end result (picture above) instead of what I started out with, because that’s just the kind of gal I am.
I want to know what I’m guaranteed before all the mumbo jumbo (preferably).
Lash extensions are not new to me, they’ve been around for quite some time now. In fact every other woman, my sister has them, many of my friends also wear them.
They look gorgeous and very natural, a few years ago I remember hearing about them on the view, but still I was not convinced to get them.
I think part of me was scared to pay so much for them, because if you didn’t already know, the first session is well over $150 and fills are usually any where from $50 – $95.
Another reason I was scared was because of the stories that were out there and specially pictures on instagram of women going for an eye lash extension appointment and they came out with infections and horrible situations, but I think as with all things you take a risk no matter what and you get what you pay for.
I have seen women go into nail shops, sit on a chair and have the extensions glued to their eyelashes as they cry and ask for the fan because the glue burns their eyes. IT DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU GO!
Lastly, I was scared to try it and become addicted. Kind of like getting my lip waxed every two weeks until finally I paid a crazy amount of money to never have mustache again.
After getting this done last week, I have to say I had a great experience, nothing burned, my eyes felt fine. Yes, there is a feeling of something heavy on your eyes, but that becomes natural and then you won’t even be able to tell you have them on. However there are a few precautions and that’s what I want to share with you.
Really—it’s enjoyable. You lie down in a bed and close your eyes for an hour and a half while calming music plays in the background and a technician attaches little these single lashes to your real lashes.
With proper care, I can get my extensions to last up to a month and a half. Most places recommend you come back every 2-3 weeks for a touch up, but if you’re looking to save a bit of money, you can prolong their lifespan. Just be careful not to get water on your lashes and don’t use oily products near your eyes.
Having the extensions removed is as easy as having them put on–painless and relatively quick. Every salon will have this service available. If you’re not looking to spend any more money, however, the extensions do fall out with the natural shedding of your lashes. This is a much slower process, but it is free.
It’s so amazing! (Smiling)
It all started a few months ago when I spoke with an old friend from high school, I originally reached out to her to talk to her about growing my following on Instagram and also subscribers to the website and the convo turned into what else do I have going on and honestly I didn’t have much to tell her.
I had this idea, but it was far from being completed and launched. Then she asks, “do you have a t-shirt?”
I never thought about having a t-shirt for my brand or designing one, but the idea pinched me. When I say pinched, I mean I immediately got off the phone with my friend ran to my husband in the kitchen and said, I need to design a shirt. I knew I wanted it to be saying something I say all the time, something who represented other women and made a statement and this is what popped into my head:
I was immediately hooked – it was exactly what I wanted to share with the world so right away I asked my husband to design a couple of ideas for me with the saying and asked different people to vote on the different designs the shirt design that you see below is the one that won.
Currently I am working on a couple of more tee’s and hope to have them ready to be shipped out by June.
Below is a picture of one of my favorite fashion bloggers wearing my tee. I follow her on Instagram Snafierce – Sasha Agent she has the cutest daughters and always looks fly – follow her!!! And make sure to check out her website : sashaagent.com
Love the way she wore the tee with the red blazer and red lips – stunning!
I also decided to make a this particular tee in a smaller size for little girls and asked my little girls to help their mama by modeling for me, so Friday this is what we were up to in the city of San Leandro.
Now, of course being the little diva my daughter Ava is – we had to compromise and come to an agreement, I would style one look and she would have to style the next look, so here it is:
Look #2 by Ava Grace McCalip -8 years old.
It is now being sold on Etsy
This week we’re tackling down the INVERTED TRIANGLE. That’s right below is a new episode of FashionStylista TV where I give you advice on how to dress your body shape if you are an inverted triangle. If you missed last week don’t forget to check out the rectangular body shape episode.
Well, first step is you need to know if you’re an inverted triangle and how do we do this? Basically we need to measure your shoulders, bust, waist and hips and this goes for anyone who is trying to figure out which body shape you are.
Remember there are 5 major body shapes:
Now after measuring yourself if your shoulders and bust are the wider than your hips, you are an inverted triangle.
So what does this mean? This means you have amazing assets to accentuate so let’s get started.
Your waist. When shopping for jackets, coats or tops try and find items that have a nipped-in waist and flared bottom, this way it defines the waist and has a flare over the hips and it creates the illusion of a lower-body curves and it will help balance out your broad shoulders.
PEPLUM, GATHERED TOPS, DO NOT USE SHOULDER PADS OR CAPED SLEEVES, DO USE TOPS WITH BELL SLEEVES, V-NECK TOPS, STRAPLESS, EMPIRE WAIST-TOPS
JEANS W/ WHISKERS, FLARED JEANS, PEPLUM SKIRTS, SKIRTS OR PANTS WITH HEAVY POCKETS OR EMBELLISHMENTS THESE BOTTOMS WILL ADD MORE VOLUME TO YOUR BODY AND MAKE YOU LOOK MORE BALANCED.
