I’ve never been to Coachella, but I would love to go some day and have the whole experience. It really is an experience, there’s clothes to think about, camping or getting a hotel, the music and performances. Overall it looks like a blast, of course I only know this because of social media. I mean social media has allowed us to experience things without actually having to be there physically. If I were to go next year, I would pretty much know what to expect. Crazy right?
So getting back to this outfit all the vibes that were surrounding this event were all around me, I knew people that were going, I was following bloggers on Instagram that were posting their outfits and all of that just inspired me to create a really simple look which was Coachella worthy.
Skirt and Tank: Windsor
Shoes: Nine West
Took advantage of the sun shine ☀️ yesterday and decided to wear a skirt for the blog post this week and even decided to wear it to work, just changed it up a bit and you’ll see both styles on the post. I love this skirt from Forever 21 –
Jean jacket is from Marshalls $20.00 😍
The top is from Nordstrom Leith brand – it’s so cute! I didn’t want to buy it until I tried it on and fell in love with it, usually I’m pretty good about saying no, but when it fits beautifully I can’t help it.😬
The shoes are from H&M – I got them at a ridiculous price I think less than $10.00 and you guys know my signature lipstick is Ruby Woo from MAC Cosmetics.
Jeans: FASHION NOVA
Shoes: NINE WEST
Sunglasses: MICHAEL KORS
The TOPSHOP tank was only $3.00 – yup no joke. Originally $16, but I only paid $3.00 love it!
I honestly think it’s more blessings than me trying to look for items on sale I just run into them. I once bought a bodysuit at H&M for $1.99 and decorative pillows for $0.01 each at Nordstrom.
What is the best deal you’ve ever found on clothes or anything you love?
Ahh! Finally I found a jumpsuit that caught my eye and I bought it. I had to, it was less than $20. I was at Nordstrom as I usually am and as I was waiting in line to pay for my merchandise, I noticed this little black jumpsuit that was left on the side, I think someone must have changed their minds about it and when I saw it and the price, I had to have it.
I’ve worn this baby a few times already, just because its so easy to put on. It kind of works like the little black dress idea. You can never go wrong with black, it’s pants and top sown together, it’s perfection.
I decided to take it for a stroll in San Leandro and take pics. I used the vintage clutch my mother gave me, great shoes from Shoedazzle and jewelry from Windsor and Banana Republic. The bracelet here was designed by my mom and made in Peru, love it!
This picture was the final product, full, long, glamorous lashes. Exactly what I paid for.
I wanted to start out with showing you the end result (picture above) instead of what I started out with, because that’s just the kind of gal I am.
I want to know what I’m guaranteed before all the mumbo jumbo (preferably).
Lash extensions are not new to me, they’ve been around for quite some time now. In fact every other woman, my sister has them, many of my friends also wear them.
They look gorgeous and very natural, a few years ago I remember hearing about them on the view, but still I was not convinced to get them.
I think part of me was scared to pay so much for them, because if you didn’t already know, the first session is well over $150 and fills are usually any where from $50 – $95.
Another reason I was scared was because of the stories that were out there and specially pictures on instagram of women going for an eye lash extension appointment and they came out with infections and horrible situations, but I think as with all things you take a risk no matter what and you get what you pay for.
I have seen women go into nail shops, sit on a chair and have the extensions glued to their eyelashes as they cry and ask for the fan because the glue burns their eyes. IT DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU GO!
Lastly, I was scared to try it and become addicted. Kind of like getting my lip waxed every two weeks until finally I paid a crazy amount of money to never have mustache again.
After getting this done last week, I have to say I had a great experience, nothing burned, my eyes felt fine. Yes, there is a feeling of something heavy on your eyes, but that becomes natural and then you won’t even be able to tell you have them on. However there are a few precautions and that’s what I want to share with you.
1. It’s a very luxurious process.
Really—it’s enjoyable. You lie down in a bed and close your eyes for an hour and a half while calming music plays in the background and a technician attaches little these single lashes to your real lashes.
2. Eyelash extensions can last longer than you think.
With proper care, I can get my extensions to last up to a month and a half. Most places recommend you come back every 2-3 weeks for a touch up, but if you’re looking to save a bit of money, you can prolong their lifespan. Just be careful not to get water on your lashes and don’t use oily products near your eyes.
3. The only way to get rid of them is to get them professionally removed or have them fall out naturally.
Having the extensions removed is as easy as having them put on–painless and relatively quick. Every salon will have this service available. If you’re not looking to spend any more money, however, the extensions do fall out with the natural shedding of your lashes. This is a much slower process, but it is free.
It’s so amazing! (Smiling)
It all started a few months ago when I spoke with an old friend from high school, I originally reached out to her to talk to her about growing my following on Instagram and also subscribers to the website and the convo turned into what else do I have going on and honestly I didn’t have much to tell her.
I had this idea, but it was far from being completed and launched. Then she asks, “do you have a t-shirt?”
I never thought about having a t-shirt for my brand or designing one, but the idea pinched me. When I say pinched, I mean I immediately got off the phone with my friend ran to my husband in the kitchen and said, I need to design a shirt. I knew I wanted it to be saying something I say all the time, something who represented other women and made a statement and this is what popped into my head:
I was immediately hooked – it was exactly what I wanted to share with the world so right away I asked my husband to design a couple of ideas for me with the saying and asked different people to vote on the different designs the shirt design that you see below is the one that won.
Currently I am working on a couple of more tee’s and hope to have them ready to be shipped out by June.
Below is a picture of one of my favorite fashion bloggers wearing my tee. I follow her on Instagram Snafierce – Sasha Agent she has the cutest daughters and always looks fly – follow her!!! And make sure to check out her website : sashaagent.com
Love the way she wore the tee with the red blazer and red lips – stunning!
I also decided to make a this particular tee in a smaller size for little girls and asked my little girls to help their mama by modeling for me, so Friday this is what we were up to in the city of San Leandro.
Now, of course being the little diva my daughter Ava is – we had to compromise and come to an agreement, I would style one look and she would have to style the next look, so here it is:
Look #2 by Ava Grace McCalip -8 years old.
It is now being sold on Etsy
This week we’re tackling down the INVERTED TRIANGLE. That’s right below is a new episode of FashionStylista TV where I give you advice on how to dress your body shape if you are an inverted triangle. If you missed last week don’t forget to check out the rectangular body shape episode.
Well, first step is you need to know if you’re an inverted triangle and how do we do this? Basically we need to measure your shoulders, bust, waist and hips and this goes for anyone who is trying to figure out which body shape you are.
Remember there are 5 major body shapes:
- HOUR GLASS
- INVERTED TRIANGLE
- APPLE AND
Now after measuring yourself if your shoulders and bust are the wider than your hips, you are an inverted triangle.
So what does this mean? This means you have amazing assets to accentuate so let’s get started.
Your waist. When shopping for jackets, coats or tops try and find items that have a nipped-in waist and flared bottom, this way it defines the waist and has a flare over the hips and it creates the illusion of a lower-body curves and it will help balance out your broad shoulders.
PEPLUM, GATHERED TOPS, DO NOT USE SHOULDER PADS OR CAPED SLEEVES, DO USE TOPS WITH BELL SLEEVES, V-NECK TOPS, STRAPLESS, EMPIRE WAIST-TOPS
JEANS W/ WHISKERS, FLARED JEANS, PEPLUM SKIRTS, SKIRTS OR PANTS WITH HEAVY POCKETS OR EMBELLISHMENTS THESE BOTTOMS WILL ADD MORE VOLUME TO YOUR BODY AND MAKE YOU LOOK MORE BALANCED.
Watch the episode and let me know if you have any questions on the comments below. If you love it, give me a thumbs up and please do not forget to subscribe!
according to Lucky Magazine and their contributor page, so I have submitted my fabulous hot pink dress and it really is perfect timing, because I just took these pics a couple of weeks ago for my blog. Pink is the new red.
Check out this painting behind me with all the crazy red in it, my husbands art.
So looking at my blog and my pictures I’m sure you can see that I am not one to avoid color – in fact I love color. It brings life to my face and I guess it can make me feel a bit cheery sometimes. I was looking for a tight fitting dress this summer something a bit sexy that would hug my curves, now this is a little bit out of my norm, because if you look at my pics I don’t really dress this way, it’s usually jeans, pants a top, but not anything so form fitting. What I wanted to do was challenge myself to wear it and own it and what I mean by owning is own the dress not let the dress own me and by that I mean, let my insecurities show while wearing the dress and I did just that.
How did I do it? Well, the truth is it’s all in your mind. I told myself to just freaking do it, be natural about it and smile and that was it. I promise no photoshop is involved. I am a firm believer that what you believe is sent out to the universe and returns to you. Like being nice and kind, someone will be nice and kind to you, because it’s all over you, it’s who you are, because you have decided in your mind to be nice and kind. Same is for loving your body even those insecurities. Anyway, I guess I just had to talk about the insecurities of a woman, because that was the big thing when I decided to buy and take pictures in this dress, but I am wearing some serious Spanx that’s for sure.
Now, for those of you who have never worn Spanx let me tell you, it’s not that great or comfortable and it does not make you look 5 lbs. thinner either, all it does is hide the rolls, or makes your belly fat flat. In this picture I am wearing the shorts, here is a direct link: Higher Power Short
Love these little shorts, they go up to my bra and cover my back fat making it all look smooth and they also have a hole in the crotch part to go pee, maybe to much information, but just thought I would let you know. I can’t wait to wear this outfit again, it was so much fun. Below are some links on where you can find these items or similar items.

I own many many shoes, all different types and colors, but I did not own any red shoes, and I have been dying to buy a pair, but never really found a pair that I loved. When it comes to shopping I have to love it, have to have it, or it’s not going in my closet. Originally, I was looking for red heels with fringe, but I ran into these gorgeous ladies and now they are mine. I ordered them from Lola Shoetique – they are called Cecille and can be found here: http://www.lolashoetique.com/cecille-red/
I’m not much of an online shopper, one because I want whatever I purchased in my hand immediately and two because I hate having to return things, if they don’t work out and I wasn’t sure if this would work, because I have wide feet. I once bought a couple of shoes from ShoeDazzle online and none of them worked out because of how wide my feet are, but when these came in and I tried them on they were perfect. I used them for about 4-5 hours on Sunday and I have no complaints whatsoever.
A pop of color in your wardrobe is a fun and modern way to show some personality if that is who you are. I am absolutely out there at least with my clothes and accessories, so adding color to my wardrobe is no biggy.
If you like dark colors and mostly own black, this is a perfect way to revamp your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Add color by buying shoes, a bag, necklace and even a red lipstick. These small and inexpensive purchases can make a a huge difference. Red Lips Red Shoes.
