Sometimes it’s a bootie and jeans type of day, you know?
I have my days when I can’t figure out what I wear nothing looks good on me and I can get really frustrated. When this happens, I grab a basic tee, jeans and bootie, I mean you can’t go wrong.
Lipstick from MAC
Jacket from Nordstrom
Love love love this top!
Let me begin by telling you I cannot wear chokers, I do not have a very long neck so when I have tried it’s actually brought more attention to my short neck and it’s not flattering and this is why I love this top.
The top has been cut to make it look like it has a choker built in and the v-neck gives the illusion of a longer neck.

Sun glasses: Quay High Key from Nordstrom
Here we are 2017, can you believe it? I certainly find it very difficult to believe it feels like all of a sudden it just fell on my lap and now I’m realizing I’m one year closer to being 40 &^%**!!!!!
Let me tell you something, here’s what I’ve always heard, but never understood until NOW!
I don’t feel like I’m 36, I actually feel like I’m in my 20’s except if I drink a few too many champagne glasses, I end up getting a hangover for 2 days instead of waking up the next day and not feeling a thing like I would when I was younger.Okay, so going back to 2017. Amazing, every year I decide to leave behind what was or wasn’t and just look forward to the future and convincing myself to believe that this year will be better than the last and that I’m one step closer to my goals, dreams and so much more, but there’s also some great lessons that I take with me and here are a few important ones that I’ve learned:
There you have it the four lessons I’m taking with me into 2017. Happy New Year!
Ahh! Finally I found a jumpsuit that caught my eye and I bought it. I had to, it was less than $20. I was at Nordstrom as I usually am and as I was waiting in line to pay for my merchandise, I noticed this little black jumpsuit that was left on the side, I think someone must have changed their minds about it and when I saw it and the price, I had to have it.
I’ve worn this baby a few times already, just because its so easy to put on. It kind of works like the little black dress idea. You can never go wrong with black, it’s pants and top sown together, it’s perfection.
I decided to take it for a stroll in San Leandro and take pics. I used the vintage clutch my mother gave me, great shoes from Shoedazzle and jewelry from Windsor and Banana Republic. The bracelet here was designed by my mom and made in Peru, love it!
This picture was the final product, full, long, glamorous lashes. Exactly what I paid for.
I wanted to start out with showing you the end result (picture above) instead of what I started out with, because that’s just the kind of gal I am.
I want to know what I’m guaranteed before all the mumbo jumbo (preferably).
Lash extensions are not new to me, they’ve been around for quite some time now. In fact every other woman, my sister has them, many of my friends also wear them.
They look gorgeous and very natural, a few years ago I remember hearing about them on the view, but still I was not convinced to get them.
I think part of me was scared to pay so much for them, because if you didn’t already know, the first session is well over $150 and fills are usually any where from $50 – $95.
Another reason I was scared was because of the stories that were out there and specially pictures on instagram of women going for an eye lash extension appointment and they came out with infections and horrible situations, but I think as with all things you take a risk no matter what and you get what you pay for.
I have seen women go into nail shops, sit on a chair and have the extensions glued to their eyelashes as they cry and ask for the fan because the glue burns their eyes. IT DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU GO!
Lastly, I was scared to try it and become addicted. Kind of like getting my lip waxed every two weeks until finally I paid a crazy amount of money to never have mustache again.
After getting this done last week, I have to say I had a great experience, nothing burned, my eyes felt fine. Yes, there is a feeling of something heavy on your eyes, but that becomes natural and then you won’t even be able to tell you have them on. However there are a few precautions and that’s what I want to share with you.
Really—it’s enjoyable. You lie down in a bed and close your eyes for an hour and a half while calming music plays in the background and a technician attaches little these single lashes to your real lashes.
With proper care, I can get my extensions to last up to a month and a half. Most places recommend you come back every 2-3 weeks for a touch up, but if you’re looking to save a bit of money, you can prolong their lifespan. Just be careful not to get water on your lashes and don’t use oily products near your eyes.
Having the extensions removed is as easy as having them put on–painless and relatively quick. Every salon will have this service available. If you’re not looking to spend any more money, however, the extensions do fall out with the natural shedding of your lashes. This is a much slower process, but it is free.
Saturday mornings must consist of a few things to just bring a smile to face…
1.☕️️ COFFEE. Caffeine makes my world go round, it gets me the energy I need to get out of sleepy mode, but I think the warmth is actually pretty comforting when I just wake up. Love it hot or cold.
2. Flowers earlier this week I picked up some flowers from my favorite local florist I adore white peonies and she schooled me by letting me know that peonies are actually seasonal and they were out of season. Therefore, I said you know what give me anything white.
Anything that brings calm and peace to my life I love and welcome, whether it’s essential oils, music, so the color white is one of those things and I love it. She came up with this amazing and creative bouquet which I simply adore and it’s still going strong, looks as fresh as it did on Monday or Tuesday.
3. Comfort. Whether it’s pajamas all day, sweat pants or these ripped jeans and my favorite tee…I need comfort. Love jeans that have a little bit of stretch to them it makes it so much better when you decide on the burrito instead of the salad 😭
Beach waves were gorgeous scene on Saturday. It was the one weekend my husband had off since wedding season started we definitely took advantage of it, because once we start to shoot weddings it’s on, shoot, edit, shoot, edit.
We haven’t really taken family photos since Christmas so we were going to try this weekend, but it was definitely challenging, not just with the gear, light and wind, but my pre-teen was showing signs of attitude and this was what we were able to capture.
Night and day these two. Ava the oldest is like, I don’t want to go to the beach, I want to be in a pool why can’t we go to the pool? I started to get nightmare flash backs of our trip to Hawaii.
Audrey loves the beach and loves to feel the sand and get wet below you’ll see some of the amazing photos I took of her.
I took this picture below of them running away from the water. I always like to photograph Joe with the girls, he’s such an amazing dad, I can’t even begin to tell you how much he loves these girls, but shows them by giving them time, conversing with them, reading to them.
Then it was my turn to take photos and Joe took these great pics of this outfit.
Do you have thick thighs like mine? Well, if you do you know it is very difficult to find shorts that actually fit and do not ride up your behind. Luckily for you and I these shorts are all over the place and by that I mean, target, Marshalls, Nordstrom, Windsor, Nordstrom Rack, Macy’s and all over online. They’re not jeans and made out of cotton/rayon these are loose around my thighs which is the biggest part of my legs. My calfs are okay, but thighs ay ay ay! They kind of fit like a loose mini skirt.
I’m not sure if you can tell, but they’re actually a dark blue not black. I decided to wear my body suit, wow that seems weird to type and say…bodysuit. Last time I wore a bodysuit I was in 7th grade, I would wear this white bodysuit with my Levi’s. Used the white blazer to give it a pop and of course my most affordable fashionable fabulous sandals I bought at Forever21.
Do you have any summer plans? Tell me about it! I want to hear or read 🙂 Comment below.
Hey one more question, what do you think about this crazy blonde hair hu? I want to know!
Yes, darling. Last week was my birthday. June 11th and let me tell you I was so excited to turn 36.
Actually, more than excited I was thankful. Just thankful. I was praying a few days before my birthday and bawling my eyes out from just being appreciative and thankful that God has kept my life intact, the thought of many mothers dying early in age came to my mind and it hurt just thinking about it so I couldn’t help but to cry because of God’s goodness. One more year has been added to my life and I am blessed enough to spend it with my family, my two beautiful girls that mean the world to me. I’m here to protect, love and teach them. Prepare them for life.
God is good.
Well I have to say I am taking advantage of this month like you have no idea. As soon as it turned June I am in celebration mode so normally when I would stay home and work I’ve said yes, let’s do it!
It’s been so fun.
I had to have a birthday shoot of course and for this I required the gift of a fabulous photographer and Joseph Alan Productions it was. I asked my hubby to take a few photos of me the night before my birthday – we planned to have my mom and dad come over for dinner that night. We bought a dozen donuts which the girls were so excited about. We stacked them up like a tiered cake and blow out the candles and for me it’s not a birthday with out a little bubbly.
You know me and champagne — check out my But first, Champagne tee.
I even picked up some beautiful flowers for the festivities at Miriam Lara Floral Boutique in San Leandro – they are so talented.
I’ve worked with them on a few occasions, we covered a baby shower and the flowers arrangements were beautiful and since then we’ve been bff’s. Amazing! After we took these images in my home we took the party outside to one of our favorite downtown spots in San Leandro and had a fun time with some balloons. I love white, but I think for these photos I should have chosen a more festive look or colors for the balloons.
Now my husband bought me this dress a year ago, yes it was actually for my 35th birthday, but I never wore it. I was so self conscious about my body that I was scared to wear it and not feel comfortable and most importantly confident.
BUT HERE’S THE THING…what I have learned and I mean seriously learned this year is….just do it. Here’s what I mean, I started to think about all the pictures I’ve seen and said this, “I WAS SKINNY BACK THEN, I DON’T KNOW WHY I THOUGHT I WAS FAT” Have you ever uttered these stupid words? OMG! I can’t do this to myself anymore. Let me tell you I was skinnier last year when I turned 35 than I am today at 36 and was skinnier when I was 31 just wear it, live it, love it, own it and walk it baby! You know what I’m saying? If you do, please leave your comments or Aha moments share, share, and share.
So I decided to wear it. It’s an amazing and sexy dress. The black slip does not come with it, bought separately.

Do not under estimate the power of a good maxi dress. Seriously.
I know this sounds crazy, but let me explain and teach you a few things about a maxi dress.
1. The maxi dress can hide the hairy legs you have under it. That’s right, I am never to excited to wax or shave my legs and on top of it, I have a crazy busy schedule that sometimes leaves me thinking of myself last and makes me an expert at 10 minute showers. So the maxi dress does just that, it completely hides my hairy legs that have been hibernating and aren’t ready for the sunshine yet.
2. If you feel a bit insecure about yourself for example somedays after walking or jogging a few miles I feel super-fly, sexy, skinny and I have no problem wearing a tight shirt or dress, but on the days when I’ve been eating the same things my kids eat which mostly contain cheese and carbs trust me my maxi dress does wonders! It makes me feel like you can’t really see the food baby behind the dress and this is all thanks to the empire waist maxi.
3. When you’re not sure what jeans to wear or top or shorts or skirt, keep it simple. Dresses are one of the most easiest pieces to pick out when you’re confused and in a time crunch. It’s a one piece that will look fabulous with the right shoes and jewelry.
Is this not enough reasons for you to go out and buy a few maxi dresses?
Well here below are my TOP 5 MAXI DRESSES THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
1. THE BLACK MAXI DRESS
This dress is just like your little black dress that you can wear any where, now of course there are some objections depending on the style and material, but I own two of these and let me tell you they look fabulous with flat sandals, a turquoise necklace or earrings.
2. THE FLORAL MAXI DRESS
Whether you’re going to Coachella or Farmers Market this spring this is the ultimate boho look any chick can rock, put on some boots and leather moto jacket and your bad ass is ready to throw peace signs and wear your flower crown.
3. THE JERSEY DRESS
Fitting like a glove or loose and comfy, this is the kind of dress that I throw on my kicks and my jean jacket. Super casual and comfy.
4. THE BRIGHT “I’M HERE” DRESS
I’ve never been much of a bore and neither has my wardrobe. I love to be bright and out there, it’s just my personality. If you’re going to the beach or hanging in Cabo this dress will say I’M HERE. I know some people like to wear black and dark colors, but if you want to surprise them try a bright color like this yellow, red, or blue.
5. THE FANCY CHIFFON MAXI DRESS
Can be used for a nice formal event, like a wedding, dinner party, etc. All of these dresses will change your life!
